Most of the women in the village are illiterate and we fund literacy classes run by the school in various locations in the area. These are free and many women are taking the opportunity to learn to read and write. Classes are held in the evening when work in the fields is finished. It is hoped these classes will encourage the women to ensure their daughters and granddaughters are given the opportunity to attend school in a country where education is not compulsory. We have also funded six sewing machines at the school for use by the ladies of the village, enabling them to learn a skill to benefit their family.
All of this requires money and is why LEARN is so important.
